Mr. Rogers stays in the neighborhood.
They're building a downtown parklet featuring his statue.

just wondering about the dates in this group. the above post says Oct 24, 2006 10:11pm but the forum page says this post was posted today at 5:47pm. that would be may 24 2007.

frank's right - i just typed over the old entry. it went kinda stale after a few months.

thanks for the explaination rieraci. i noticed this in a couple of other groups also and thought it might be a bug or something wrong on my computer. the folks in the bug group suggested it might just be an edited post. i'll let them know that they are correct. the fact that i saw this in a couple other groups made me wonder if something was wrong. it is a bit confusing but at least i know what's going on now.

just a human bug, cybor - actually i meant to type a new post above the old, but i zapped it through sheer fat-fingered clumsiness instead. c'est la vie ;-)
11: and blakely's right - the new portal is no improvement. i think it's just part of pitt's plan to close off bigelow between forbes & fifth to vehicular traffic eventually and create a walkway for the students to the cathedral.

i can relate to the fat-finger problem. dang keyboards just aren't made for bear paw hands. keep the pittsburgh stuff coming. it's the only way i stay in touch with the old hometown.

And for the locals that don't want to drop their paycheck skiing at the local resorts, Boyce Park has just renovated the ski, snowboard and tube runs: post-gazette.com/pg/08026/852415-85.stm [post-gazette.com/pg/08026/852415-85.stm]

It was light-up night in town last night - the Mayor lit the tree at the City-County Building and the stores are starting to hawk Xmas stuff. I remember when Christmas used to come after Thanksgiving.

In addition to being named the world's 7th best park, Kennywood Park also took several additional top 25 spots in the Amusement Today survey, including 3rd best Halloween Event, 7th best steel rollercoaster and 21st best wooden rollercoaster.

Here's some shots of Lucette de Rugy's light art transforming some of downtown's buildings during the night; a couple are pretty interesting works: post-gazette.com/pg/07175/796192-42.stm [post-gazette.com/pg/07175/796192-42.stm]

EDIT: In true 'Burgh fashion, one car couldn't believe the Parkway was shut down, so it zigged and zagged down a closed ramp and through the construction - until finally getting stuck in a dug out section of the road: post-gazette.com/pg/07160/792945-100.stm [post-gazette.com/pg/07160/792945-100.stm] The driver said he didn't think the warning signs applied to that section of the road (apparently he thought it was just the usual potholes). The road workers were not amused - amazed, maybe, but not amused.

in case you can't remember why you left pittsburgh, the squirrel hill tunnels outbound are closed, there's construction on route 28, they're paving the hi-level bridge, 5th avenue is being dug up...and kenny chesney is bringing 50,000 people downtown, not to mention the three rivers art festival being in full swing (and yes, it has been raining, why do you ask, hehe): post-gazette.com/pg/07158/792208-147.stm [post-gazette.com/pg/07158/792208-147.stm]

for those of you from up north, the 122-year old east brady bridge on the allegheny that took you to brady's bend met its' maker today. Its' replacement is 300 feet upstream:
